Introduction to Integrated Individual and Group Psychotherapy

Seminar Description

The combined therapy model, with alternating individual and group sessions, provides a psychotherapy setting where patients can be helped to change basic character features which interfere with optimal functioning. Individual sessions provide the safety and nurturing of a one-to-one relationship while the group offers opportunities to try out different ways of living with others. The course will cover the following topics:

  • The real and transference relationships
  • Identifying and expressing feelings in a healthy way
  • Separating thinking from emotions
  • Making changes on a physiological level
  • The necessity of emotional dependency on the therapist
  • The therapeutic setting and contract

Goals and Objectives

  • Participants will be able to list basic elements of combined therapy model
  • Participants will be able to identify common clinical examples of these elements
  • Participants will recognize their personal experience with these elements
