Self-Deprecation and Self-Criticism Perspective

Description

This three session seminar will focus on the underpinnings and psychological meanings of self-deprecation and pathological meanings of self-deprecation and pathologic self-criticism. Using experiential exercises and case material, we will explore the psychodynamics and defensive functions of these character features.

Credit:  3.5 CE Hours

Goals and Objectives

  • Examine in depth the underlying meanings of self-deprecation and self-criticism.
  • Identify various functions that these features serve for patients.
  • Identify counter-transference issues.

The Institute offers these weekly seminars for physicians, psychologists and social workers. Participants must attend all three weeks in order to receive continuing education credits. IIGP is approved by the Michigan State Medical Society to provide continuing education for physicians. IIGP is approved by the American Psychological Association to sponsor continuing education for psychologists. IIGP maintains responsibility for this program and its content. IIGP is an approved provider with the Michigan Social Work Continuing Education Collaborative.  Approved Provider Number: MICEC 0036.
